Dr. Evan Dowdy
Growing up on his grandfather’s cattle ranch in Wyoming, Evan Dowdy learned common sense and the basics of animal medicine. After earning his DVM from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine, he returned to work on the ranch, where he was the only veterinarian within 40 miles. Devoting his career as a full-time veterinarian, he gathered even more experience as a full-time generalist and part-time emergency vet for three years in Pennsylvania.
In 1991, Dr. Dowdy joined Dr. Kiefer at Kiefer Veterinary Clinic, now Horizon Veterinary Clinic, a respected animal hospital established in 1946, where he continues a tradition of superior care for pets. Dr. Dowdy is currently the owner of Horizon Veterinary Clinic, and Dr. Kiefer has retired. Small animal surgery, internal medicine, acupuncture, and treatment of chronic ear problems are a few of his areas of interest. He is a member of American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society, Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, and Who’s Who in Veterinary Medicine (1991-1992).
“As long as I can remember, I wanted to work with animals. Treating animals is a great privilege and a responsibility I take very seriously. That’s why I make sure all my four-legged patients enjoy gentle care and advanced treatments.”
